After you take the abortion pills you will experience severe contractions and vaginal bleeding. This bleeding will be different from your normal menstruation. You may also experience body pain, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc. these side effects may stay for some days, however, if it stays for a longer period then consult your medical expert immediately.

One to two weeks after an abortion, you can lower the risk of infection by:
  • Not using tampons, menstrual cups.
  • Not taking baths, sitting in water, not going to swimming, not using hot bathtubs or jacuzzis.

 Signs of Infection: Can include lower abdominal tenderness, fever, vaginal discharge, etc. if you observe these symptoms then consult your medical expert immediately. If infections are discovered early then it can be treated easily and effectively with antibiotics.

Resuming normal activity: Avoid lifting heaving weights or aerobic activity for a few days after the abortion process. (with a medical termination, for 24 hours after you eject the pregnancy tissue). Cramping: Experiencing cramping after an abortion is normal. Some women do not experience cramps at all. You can experience cramps for 2-3 weeks after the procedure. Bleeding: After taking the abortion pills bleeding is normal. Some people start bleeding after the abortion procedure and continue bleeding or have brown spotting for up to 2-3 weeks. Lifting heavy objects, drinking alcohol, using marijuana or period medications can increase the bleeding. If you absorb through a few maxi pads in one to two hours or soak through one maxi pad within an hour for more than 3 hours then immediately call your medical expert.

Most health care expert suggests for a check-up 2-3 weeks after a surgical abortion and 1-2 weeks after in case of medical abortion.
